Biography:
Noëlle Turner (b. 1993) is a British visual artist based in London. Working with highly diluted acrylic, ink and dye alongside oil painting and collage, Turner develops paintings through varying processes of staining, cutting, stitching, bleaching, printing and reworking. Her method moves between chance and control, allowing water-based media to spread unpredictably across the canvas, where colour operates as an emotional and phenomenological force. Some works remain purely abstract and minimal, drawing on the language of colour field painting, while in others figures, symbols and fragments of text create layered images. This distinction between depth and surface, feeling and information, reflects an interest in the ways physical and digital experience are absorbed differently, yet coexist within the psyche.
Drawing on experiences in meditation, personal memory, myth, alchemy and the language of the unconscious, Turner’s paintings explore states in which forms – and ideas of the self – become unstable or undergo transformation. The resulting works evoke dreamlike worlds that shift between the familiar, the fantastical and the unknown.

Noëlle Turner earned her BA in Fine Art from The Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, 2015, and her MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths University, 2024.
