Laminar flow, where water moves at high speed in parallel layers without turbulence,
creates a glass-like surface, appearing frozen in time despite its rapid movement. For
Turner, this phenomenon serves as a resonant metaphor: the illusion mirrors the
sensation of feeling immobile - crystalised, unable to move forward in time. But in
moving with the stillness, unperturbed, there is a quiet sense of direction, a space
where breathing feels possible again.
